Varvar - Midnight Velvet Ardmore

The jewel in Varvar’s barrel-aging program, Midnight Velvet is back with a stunning and highly experimental 2026 edition. This colossal 12% Imperial Stout has been meticulously matured in carefully selected Scottish single malt whisky casks from the legendary Ardmore distillery - specifically, 1st fill Chianti casks.
This unique maturation process crafts a remarkably complex sensory journey. Poured jet-black and incredibly viscous, it unfolds on the palate with deep layers of rich dark chocolate, charred oak, and a distinctive wave of dried black berries and vinous undertones courtesy of the Chianti heritage. The Ardmore casks impart a subtle, sophisticated peat warmth, leading to a finish that is noticeably firmer, drier, and more refined than previous releases in the series. A masterpiece of balance, built for serious connoisseurs.
 
Taste Profile: Dark bitter chocolate, toasted oak, dried blackberries, and a warming, subtle peaty whisky finish with a hint of red wine tannins.
